Arsenal begin their Premier League title quest with a trip to Old Trafford on Sunday, facing a Manchester United side aiming to rebuild from a poor campaign.
After narrowly missing out on the title in recent seasons, Mikel Arteta has reinforced his squad with key signings aimed at providing the final push. The high-stakes opener against their historic rivals offers the perfect stage for the Gunners to make a statement of intent.
Mikel Arteta is set to integrate his major summer signings into the starting lineup immediately. Viktor Gyökeres, a major summer acquisition, is expected to lead the line from the start, a decision influenced by the long-term injury to Gabriel Jesus. Alongside him, fellow newcomer Martin Zubimendi is in line for his full debut and will be tasked with controlling the tempo from the base of the midfield.
Furthermore, the Gunners have received a significant boost with the return of Jurriën Timber to full fitness. His versatility provides Arteta with multiple options, though he is expected to start at right-back, allowing William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães to continue their formidable partnership in central defence.
With no new injuries or suspensions, Arteta has a strong squad at his disposal. Notably, 15-year-old academy prospect Max Downam has also travelled with the first-team squad after impressing in pre-season and could be in line for a place on the bench.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Ødegaard, Rice; Saka, Gyökeres, Martinelli.
The Premier League fixture takes place at Old Trafford on Sunday, 17th August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK. Coverage begins at 4pm BST, and subscribers can also stream the action via the Sky Go app.
