Arsenal make the short trip across the capital to face West Ham United at the London Stadium this weekend.
Mikel Arteta admitted during Friday’s pre-match press conference that confidence is back in his squad, following impressive wins over Nottingham Forest and Sporting Lisbon.
The win in Portugal was arguably Arsenal’s best performance of the season so far, as the Gunners thrashed a previously unbeaten Sporting 5-1 at the Estádio José Alvalade. Next up is a trip to West Ham as Arsenal look to maintain their brilliant record in London derbies. Arteta’s side have lost just two of their last 26 meetings with capital sides.
Arteta refused to rule out Gabriel for this weekend’s clash and said it would be a case of ‘wait and see’ with the Brazilian defender. Gabriel was withdrawn late on against Sporting, having earlier scored in Arsenal’s win.
Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain long-term absentees, though Kieran Tierney returned to the bench against Sporting.
Arteta this week said it is ‘time’ he handed Raheem Sterling more minutes with the on-loan Chelsea winger having struggled for regular football since his summer switch to the Emirates. Ethan Nwaneri is also pushing for a place after scoring off the bench last weekend.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Calafiori; Odegaard, Rice, Merino; Saka, Havertz, Sterling.
West Ham host Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday 20th November 2024. Kick-off at the London Stadium is 17:30 GMT.
West Ham vs Arsenal will be shown on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event. Coverage starts from 17:00 GMT.
