Arteta backs Arsenal star to ‘smash it’ in title race run in | OneFootball

Mikel Arteta says he is confident Ebere Eze can enjoy a strong end to the season with Arsenal to help his side lift the Premier League title.

Eze has endured a mixed first season with the club following his move from Crystal Palace last summer.

But he scored twice against Tottenham in the north London derby last week and Arteta believes he is getting better and better in an Arsenal shirt.

“He can do,” Arteta said when asked if he can finish the season strongly.

“Now he’s got many more months and games and an understanding of what is required for him to make a difference. 

“I hope that’s the case and now he just smashes it from here to the end of the season.”

Arteta says it is not an issue of motivating Eze, but how the England attacker manages the challenges of adapting to a new club.

“Motivation has never been an issue,” he said.

“I believe that if you have to motivate a player, we have a big problem.

“Motivation is just talk. Someone that inspires you for a minute or an hour, how much does it last?

“I think the biggest motivation he has is the reason why he came to this club. Because you really feel attached and belonging here.

“The rest is moments that you have to have through your career when you move to a different club. Navigate that and make sure you use everything that you possibly can to make it work.”
