Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain will clash next week on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League. However, the Gunners have officially ruled out Martin Ødegaard for the matchup between the two sides.
The recent FIFA international window hasn’t been too kind to Arsenal, especially with captain Ødegaard facing injury concerns. According to Le Parisien, he might miss the Champions League match against PSG on October 1.
When the injury first occurred, Norway’s national team doctor estimated that the midfielder would need at least three weeks to recover from an ankle injury.
“Ødegaard back? It will be a matter of weeks,” manager Mikel Arteta said. “But I still can’t guarantee when; I can’t tell you more than this: ” Before October’s international break is unlikely.”
Ahead of the clash, PSG have a match against Stade Rennais, while Arsenal face Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday and Leicester City on Saturday.
The Premier League side will need to overcome a massive absence from their squad as they attempt to advance in the league phase of the competition. It will be interesting to see if PSG can go without significant issues when these two clubs clash at the Emirates Stadium.
