The Premier League have confirmed the nominees for their October Player of the Month award, with Mikel Arteta joining Ruben Amorim of Manchester United, Unai Emery of Aston Villa, and Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth in the running.

The nomination is Arteta’s second in a row, having also made the shortlist for the September award. On that occasion, Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner ended up winning the vote.

You can cast your vote for the October award here until 12:00 GMT on Monday, November 3rd.

Three of the four managers won all of their Premier League games in October (with Iraola’s Bournemouth winning two and drawing one), though Arteta’s side were the only ones to do so without conceding.

Arsenal won three London derbies in October, but Amorim supporters will point to his team’s win over Liverpool, and Emery fans will highlight Villa’s wins over Manchester City and Spurs.

If the award was extended to all competitions, there would be no contest. Arteta’s Arsenal won six games from six across the Premier League, the Champions League, and the League Cup, and the team didn’t concede a single goal.

In fact, it was the first time in history that an English top-flight team had played six games in a month and won them all without conceding.

Given the award is Premier League-specific, the vote might be a bit closer. But considering Arteta has led his side to a four-point gap at the top of the division, he should still be the favourite.
