Arthur, 20, made his Palmeiras first-team debut against Mirassol in the Campeonato Paulista on Saturday 17 January, becoming the 48th academy player to feature under Abel Ferreira.
According to Nosso Palestra, he is the 36th to be promoted by Abel, making his first professional appearance with the coach in charge since November 2020. A further 12 had debuted earlier and were later used by the Portuguese.
The left-back played the opening two matches of this year’s Copinha for the under-20s and scored in the 4-2 win over Monte Roraima-RR. He was moved up to the senior squad after Jéfte’s injury.
This is his third Copinha. Over the past year he was named in five senior matchday squads and earned a Brazil under-20 call-up, registering 42 games and two goals for the under-20s.
Arthur signed a new deal in August running to the end of 2029, extending an agreement that had been due to expire in September 2027. He will age out of the youth ranks after the Copinha and is transitioning to the senior set-up, having trained with the first team in 2025. His role under Abel remains undecided.
Palmeiras travel to Novorizontino in the Paulistão on 20 January, kick-off 20:00 Brasília time.
