AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed his team's targets in the ongoing 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign.
Usuthu were edged by defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in their last outing, which saw them remain fifth on the log standings with 30 points from 18 games.
With the second round of the season ongoing, Zwane says they have firmly set sights on finishing in the top four, but doesn't rule out a CAF Inter-club spot.
“Our target is position four, it has always been there as a club and we also fancy our chances that we can finish in the top three because teams are going to cancel each other. All we have to do is to win our home games and unfortunately we lost tonight [Tuesday],” he said.
"So, we are going to have to go back to the drawing board and redeem ourselves and make sure that now we go out and get maximum points away from home just to give ourselves a chance.
The KwaZulu Natal-based outfit will swing back to action with a clash against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium on Friday, and the 52-year-old tactician is braced for a tough assignment.
“We're going away to Cape Town now. And in Cape Town it's not easy also playing against a Stellenbosch team that has also got a lot of hard runners. They give you no space and time on the ball,” Zwane acknowledged.
"So, we're going to have to grind, we're going to have to keep on fighting like we've been fighting and I have no doubts that we will grab maximum points here and there.
The last time AmaZulu either secured a CAF Inter-club spot or finished in the top four was in the 2020/21 season under the guidance of Benni McCarthy.
