Artur wants to regain confidence and says how he fits in at São Paulo

Forward Artur was officially introduced as a new signing for São Paulo last Monday and showed excitement about the new challenge. Reuniting with coach Roger Machado, under whom he previously performed well, the player said he wants to regain his confidence at the club and explained how he fits into the team.

“Roger has always liked to play with that kind of wide attacker, someone sharp who tries to dribble and finish, and I think I’ll fit his style very well, personally. Taking defenders on, not being afraid. I think my main characteristic is exactly that: taking defenders on, not being afraid to take risks whether I get it right or wrong, but keep trying,” he explained.

“That’s one thing I had been losing, and I recognize that. I’ve been trying to improve every day and my confidence is coming back, returning, and I’m super happy,” he continued.

Roger Machado was an important part of the negotiations and called Artur during the talks. They worked together in 2018 and 2019, at Palmeiras and Bahia, respectively. Altogether, they were together for 44 matches. Artur scored eight goals and provided four assists during that period.

Artur has been registered in the CBF’s BID and can make his debut for Tricolor in the next Brasileirão round. São Paulo’s new No. 37 emphasized his versatility and made it clear that he is available to play wherever needed. He explained that he has played both on the left flank and more centrally, and that he has no problem adapting to the team’s needs.

“I’m here to help São Paulo. Whatever I can do, I’ll do. I’ve already played more centrally, on the left side. I want to thank the fans for their affection, I received a lot of messages and I’m eager, thrilled to meet these wonderful supporters as soon as possible,” he said.
