AS Monaco appoint Marc Orti Esteban as set-piece coach | OneFootball

AS Monaco have appointed 27-year-old Spaniard Marc Orti Esteban as their new set-piece coach, replacing Hungarian Abel Lorincz, who left in the off-season for Djurgarden in Sweden.

Orti Esteban joined last week and was on duty on Tuesday morning at St George’s Park, the English Clairefontaine near Birmingham, where Monaco are in camp until Friday. According to Nice-Matin, he links up with Filipe Luis’s staff to oversee dead-ball routines.

Monaco had been without a dedicated specialist since his departure.

Between October 2019 and July 2020 he served as set-piece analyst for FC Barcelona’s first team. Earlier, he assisted on the club’s Chicago summer camps with children aged six to 16, and worked as an assistant with the U19s.

He later moved to Denmark with FC Midjylland from June 2022 to February 2023, then to Brentford, the Premier League club, from February 2023 to January 2025, focusing on statistical analysis of set plays at both clubs.

Before arriving at La Turbie he worked in MLS with New England Revolution, the Boston-based franchise, in the same role. Filipe Luis said he had a set-piece specialist in Brazil, Rodrigo Caio, who does not speak English and therefore could not come, and that Orti Esteban’s experience at big clubs caught the eye. He added the timing then allowed the move, and that Orti Esteban is now assisting on set pieces.
