FC Barcelona have just one La Liga fixture remaining before officially closing the curtain on a successful 2024/25 campaign. A domestic treble in Hansi Flick’s debut season is a remarkable achievement, but the German coach appears determined to keep the momentum going.

Just days after wrapping up the league title, it does look like Barcelona have already started planning for the upcoming season. Deco is focusing on getting the contract renewals and sales out of the way before shifting attention to the signings.

Fati nears exit

One player who seems very close to securing an exit from Barcelona is Ansu Fati. We covered a story earlier today by Fabrizio Romano, revealing that the two clubs were nearing an agreement that would see the 22-year-old move to France on loan with an option to buy.

🚨🇲🇨 Ansu Fati has already accepted in principle to join AS Monaco, as revealed this morning. He’s keen on the move.❗️ Understand Monaco and Barça are negotiating on fee lower than reported €20m but with an important sell-on clause.Talks underway, as @ffpolo advanced on MD. pic.twitter.com/RjcUjUgL0P— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 24, 2025

Now, as per the same Italian journalist, Ansu has given his green light to the transfer and Monaco are currently negotiating with Barcelona to bring the fee below €20m but give the Catalan club a substantial sell-on clause.

While it could still be a loan with an option to buy for a particular fee, there is a chance that this might be a straight-out permanent transfer. AS Monaco are taking a huge bet on Fati’s potential despite almost no performances to back it up over the last 5 years.

When Ansu was given the number 10 jersey after Lionel Messi left the club in 2021, he was expected to be the shining light that guided Barcelona into the next era without their Argentine talisman. However, it’s safe to say that it has all gone downhill since.

A new lifeline?

The move to Monaco right now gives the 22-year-old a chance to bury the past and start a fresh chapter. It is a shame that his success isn’t going to come in Catalunya but the desire of every Cule out there is to see Ansu return to the player he was when he was just 16.

Monaco’s belief in his potential is a gamble, but also an opportunity for Fati to reignite the promise he showed as a teenager. While his story at Barcelona appears to be reaching its end, fans will be quietly rooting for a renaissance in Ligue 1. For Fati, this is more than just a transfer, it’s a second chance to become the player the world once believed he could be.
