AS Monaco have already secured the signing of Mika Biereth (21) from Sturm Graz. The former Arsenal forward was presented to the press on Monday and as CEO Thiago Scuro revealed, there could be further arrivals amid links to West Ham United’s Edson Álvarez.

In a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Scuro confirmed that Monaco’s transfer window dealings may not be over, albeit without stating which part(s) of the pitch were being targeted. “We’ve been discussing a lot, trying to realise which other parts of the team we can improve. We can still do something [in the window],” began the Principality club’s CEO.

Monaco see loan offer for Álvarez rejected

He added, “It is important to point out that we are fully committed to our financial plans. We have a plan that was presented to the DNCG. We are committed to all of the regulations around the league which we fully respect and support. We are trying to find something to bring Adi (Hütter) more options, bring more alternatives to the squad. Compared to last season we have a lot more competition and a lot more games and in some moments the size of the squad has been an issue due to suspensions and injuries. We have the chance to cover those topics and we are discussing that.”

Midfield is reportedly a sector that Monaco are looking to strengthen with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the club had seen a loan offer for West Ham’s Álvarez rejected. Scuro added that it is also possible that there will be departures with “some players not fulfilling expectations” during the first part of the season. “We are working in this direction too,” confirmed the Monaco CEO.
