Balogun’s representatives have approached Spurs directly with a proposal.

However, it is unknown whether Lilywhites manager Roberto De Zerbi is considering making a concrete move for the 25-year-old.

Dominic Solanke is Tottenham’s first-choice striker, but his fitness has been an issue and the North Londoners want quality competition and cover for him.

Balogun scored three goals in four appearances at the World Cup after ending last season with 13 goals and five assists in 30 games for Monaco.

He also notched five goals in 10 Champions League appearances and will be desperate to prove himself should he return to the Premier League.

Balogun made ten first-team appearances for Arsenal, weighing in with two goals and one assist.

He spent 12 years as an academy player with the Gunners but never got the chance to show what he can do at senior level.

Spurs could now give him the chance if a deal appeals to them.

His future at Monaco is uncertain, and his representatives will also offer him to other clubs if Tottenham are not keen.

The club have strengthened in midfield and defence so far this summer and will now look to bolster their attacking ranks in the coming weeks.
