Thanks to the second place in the Ligue 1 table acquired at the end of the 2023-2024 season, the Rouge et Blanc will compete in the Trophée des Champions in Doha on January 5 against Paris, winner of the league and the Coupe de France.
The start of 2025 is already looking exciting! By finishing second to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 at the end of the 2023-2024 season, the players of AS Monaco sealed for the club a return to the Champions League. But as good news never comes alone, the Rouge et Blanc will also play in the Trophée des Champions on January 5 in Doha against Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG having won the French championship as well as the Coupe de France against Olympique Lyonnais (2-1), it is indeed the second place side from the top flight who will face the winner of these two trophies.
There will therefore be a title on offer in the first week of the new year for the men of Adi Hütter, to kick off a marathon month of January, including three Ligue 1 matches, a possible Coupe de France round, a visit from Aston Villa and an away game against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
It’s a match that will therefore take place in Doha in Qatar, while a visit from PSG, initially scheduled for the same date as part of the 16th round of Ligue 1, will be held on December 18 at the Stade Louis-II.
It’s a great objectiveon the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the club, especially since as a reminder, AS Monaco has already won this cup four times in its history (1961, 1984, 1997 and in the year 2000). Note that the last time the club from the Rock played this match, it was… against Paris, in August 2018! See you on January 5…
