AS Monaco’s new away shirt for 2026-27 is already on sale, its sleek look winning admirers while raising doubts about its ties to the Principality and traditional colours.

According to Nice-Matin, the Mizuno design is pitched as haute couture inspired, finished in a brown grape shade with gold detailing, and features overprinted ASM lettering.

Some supporters feel the club has judged it well by taking a bolder route. Gaël sees the gold and burgundy blend as a success. Jean-Pierre, 84, a follower for over 40 years, rates it 10 out of 10 and considers it among the best in the French league this year.

Others prefer clearer club cues. Rémy, 51, values the Louis-II arches as a visual link to Monaco’s history. He says the colours do not really say Monaco, and he does not follow football or expect to be moved by the season of Felipe Luís and his men.

Richard, 62, is unconvinced, arguing the tones make it look almost like a Bordeaux away strip.

Tradition remains central for many. Gaël asks about the classic red and white, which will still be worn at the Stade Louis-II this season. Richard even suggests taking the home shirt on the road and keeping the second for games here, a habit sometimes seen in rugby.

Ultimately, results matter most. Jean-Pierre hopes the team wear the new strip deep into European competition.
