AS Roma have joined the race for Feyenoord’s Givairo Read. The Serie A side have made an offer close to technical director Devy Rigaux’s valuation, while Nottingham Forest remain interested.

Forest have already made three bids for Read, and now, the 20-year-old right-back had looked to agree to a five-year contract in the Premier League. However, Gian Piero Gasperini’s Giallorossi are determined to upset the apple cart, surpassing Forest’s best offer of €23 million.

After being presented with a well-defined Italian plan, Read is said to be just as interested in Serie A football and the club’s Champions League involvement. That said, new boss Oliver Glasner seems determined to lure the young talent to the City Ground, and another bid can’t be ruled out.

Read joined Feyenoord from FC Volendam three years ago, and his current deal runs until the summer of 2029. If the Netherlands U21 international heads to the Italian capital, he will join countryman Devyne Rensch.

Fortunately for the current Roma player, Rensch remains in Gasperini’s plans, with club talks with Read revealing that the former Ajax man will likely switch to the left-back position.
