AS Roma make move for Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi | OneFootball

AS Roma have reportedly decided to step up their efforts to sign Olympique de Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi (27), according to information from Foot Mercato.

Seeking an additional player to bolster their defence, the Italian club are said to have begun negotiations with Marseille, as well as with the Argentinian, who is reportedly keen on the idea of joining I Giallorossi.

The Marseille management, forced to sell to replenish their coffers, are understood to have even agreed to let Balerdi leave on a loan deal with a mandatory buy-out clause. Such a departure would be a welcome breath of fresh air for Marseille, whilst the prospective move of Igor Paixão (26), who is being courted by Sunderland AFC, is also on the cards.

Six years after his arrival in France, Balerdi therefore seems to be heading for a fresh start, having made 200 appearances for the Olympians and worn the captain’s armband for the past two seasons.
