AS Roma are unwilling to hold talks with Paulo Dybala over a new deal, according to Calciomercato.

After moving to the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer in 2022, the Argentine has bagged 34 goals and 17 assists in 77 matches across all competitions in his first two seasons.

However, he has since tallied only 10 goals and five assists in the subsequent 51 matches.

Dybala’s time as a Roma player has been plagued by injuries. His €8 million-per-season contract expires next summer, and the club are wary about offering him a new deal.

Manager Gian Piero Gasperini is a big fan of Dybala, although that is not expected to change the club’s stance.

“When he’s not injured, he plays in any case because we don’t have other players of his quality,” Gasperini said in his post-match press conference after Roma’s 3-1 demolition of Genoa on Monday.

“Obviously, when he’s fit like this evening, and we can produce attacking play like this, everything is easier.”

Following Roma’s most recent triumph, they are back up to fourth in the Serie A table, trailing leaders Inter Milan by three points.
