AS Roma and Fenerbahçe are finally back in the UEFA Champions League after a lengthy absence, and they will meet in their first UCL game of the season on Thursday at Istanbul’s Chobani Stadyumu.

AS Roma head to Istanbul in outstanding form, buoyed by a string of successive wins in Serie A under Gian Piero Gasperini. The Italian club currently leads the Serie A table after triumphing in all three of their opening league matches. They began their domestic campaign with commanding 4-0 victories against both Fiorentina and Lecce, before grinding out a tough 2-1 win over Atalanta last weekend to preserve their flawless start.

AS Roma come into this fixture in a far stronger position, bringing strong momentum and a mostly fit squad into their Champions League league-phase opener.

Manager Gian Piero Gasperini has minimal injury worries, with club captain Lorenzo Pellegrini the only significant absence from the travelling party as he continues to recover from a lingering thigh problem.

Apart from Pellegrini, the Italians have an almost complete squad at their disposal, enabling Gasperini to deploy a well-stocked and potent attacking line-up.

The away side are likely to be led by the in-form striker Donyell Malen and the indispensable Paulo Dybala, both of whom are fully available and set to lead the line.

In addition, Matias Soulé and full-back Nahuel Molina are both expected to be included in the starting XI.
