Bologna have been gradually lowering their demands for Nottingham Forest target Jhon Lucumi, giving encouragement to Juventus.

Nottingham Forest want to land a centre-back and have been exploring deals for several potential options, including Lucumi.

The Tricky Trees have been long-time admirers of Lucumi and tried to sign him earlier this summer but, keen to assess his options, he put moving to the City Ground on hold; his preferred destination is believed to be Juventus.

That view is not shared by Bologna, who are seeking to ‘trigger a bidding war’ for Lucumi, aware that there is significant interest in the defender.

No club triggered his €28m release clause in July, leaving Bologna reducing their demands to around €25m.

Juventus have been pushing to try to do a deal and, according to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, Bologna’s demands have now headed towards the €20m to €22m mark.

As things stand, Juventus are still in talks over a potential move, with Galatasaray waiting in the background, while there is no firm Premier League offer on the table.

Lucumi has entered the final year of his contract with the Rossoblu and club CEO Claudio Fenucci admitted earlier this summer he has been promised a move if the price is right.

The 28-year-old arrived at Bologna from Belgian outfit Genk in 2022 and quickly slotted into the club’s starting eleven, and has made over 100 appearances to date.

His performances at this year’s World Cup with Colombia further raised his stock, as he featured in all their matches, playing every single minute in the tournament.

With Forest having faced disappointment in their push to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting Lisbon, they could forcefully return to the Lucumi charge, especially with the price going down.

The City Ground side’s main challenge will be to convince the Colombian to snub Juventus and move to the Premier League.
