The head coach of the four-time World Cup winners moved quickly after 18-year-old Karl sustained a torn muscle bundle injury.

Ouédraogo plays for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Recent knee problems limited him to 19 league appearances.

Even so, the former Schalke 04 academy product impressed, contributing four goals and three assists.

With one senior cap for Die Mannschaft, the Mülheim native is now likely to feature in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
