Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has waded in on the goalkeeper debate and recommended a new one for them to sign in the summer.

Cole, like most of us fans, has been unhappy with Chelsea’s recruitment model, especially in the goalkeeper department with so many on the books and none of them being good enough.

Chelsea beat Southampton 4-0 on Tuesday night in what was a much needed convincing performance, with goals coming from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.

The Saints were a very poor opposition of course, but Chelsea really needed a big win and a big performance, and that is exactly what they did last night right in the nick of time as they look to keep challenging for that all important Champions League spot.

Neto was superb playing as the number 9 and as well as getting his goal, he has explained why he loves playing as a striker with a hilarious answer!

Filip Jorgensen played this game but even he still looks very nervous and like he has a mistake in him at any moment.

Cole recommends Sels

The former Blues winger has recommended Chelsea to look at Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.

As reported by TBR Football, Joe Cole has named a goalkeeper he thinks has been amazing this season and suggested that Chelsea should take a look at him.

Sels has been superb for Nottingham Forest this season since his £5million move from Strasbourg last year.

“Do you know who I think is one of the best goalkeepers in the league at the moment? Sels from Forest,” Cole said on The Dressing Room podcast.

“Mate, I’m telling you. Watch him play. Assured, makes saves…

“I don’t know whether he’s having a golden period in his time but they are out there. You’ve just got to pick the right one.”
