Southampton have rejected Aston Villa’s €21 million offer for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, the centre-back also linked to Benfica.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Championship club turned down €21 million plus add-ons and want around €29 million to sell the defender.

Villa are seeking reinforcements, anticipating the probable exit of England international Ezri Konsa to Arsenal in a deal that could exceed €58 million.

Benfica had identified Harwood-Bellis as a candidate to replace António Silva. With Alessandro Circati arriving, talks cooled.

A Manchester City academy graduate, Harwood-Bellis made eight senior appearances for City, one in the Champions League, before leaving in winter 2021 for loans at Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, Stoke City, Burnley and Southampton.

Last season at Southampton, he was valued at €20 million and played 48 games, 43 in the Championship, four in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup, across 4,323 minutes, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
