Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Parma for the transfer of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
According to The Athletic, Villa will pay an initial £25.7 million plus add-ons for the Japanese international.
Suzuki will sign a five-year deal until 2031 to move to the Premier League club, which has always been his preference this summer.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain was on the cards this summer, but the deal collapsed. Villa have moved quickly to secure his services.
The agreement for Suzuki will allow Emiliano Martinez to move to Juventus.
The Italian giants are close to matching Villa’s demands for the goalkeeper, and there is a growing expectation that an agreement will be reached for his transfer.
Suzuki’s switch has come three years after he was first linked with a move to England.
Manchester United were interested in him during his time with Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, but he opted to join a club where he would play regularly.
He played in Belgium for Sint-Truiden after joining them in 2023, before moving to Parma one year later.
Suzuki is set to make history as the first Japanese goalkeeper to play in the Premier League, achieving a goal that he set for himself as a youngster.
