Aston Villa have played with a new confidence in recent weeks, but fans can still see gaps in the final third. Their passing phases often look sharp, but certain decisions in wide areas lack consistency, and fans should feel that the team requires another direct option.

Unai Emery has encouraged patience, although the club remains alert to market chances that could change their attacking approach in the coming months.

Aston Villa are keeping close tabs on Alysson

According to Ekrem Konur, Villa are now checking possible targets for the January window, and their scouting staff have begun to cast a close eye on South America. The report indicates that representatives from the West Midlands club travelled to Brazil to watch Gremio’s young attacker Alysson in a recent match against Cruzeiro.

The interest arrives at a moment when some of Villa’s summer arrivals have yet to deliver, including Jadon Sancho, whose impact remains limited. Emery seeks a right-sided player who can carry the ball with confidence and offer quick combinations, as the current balance sometimes slows their tempo.

Reports have linked the Lions to other names, such as Mason Greenwood and Kevin Schade, though financial and availability hurdles could complicate those paths. Alysson, however, appears to have climbed high on their list after that scouting trip.

Should the West Midlands club sign him?

Alysson Edward should be an exact fit for Villa’s recent habit of identifying forwards who can stretch the opposition backline and carry the ball with attacking intent. He moves forward with pace and confidence, and he prefers taking defenders on rather than recycling possession too early.

That type of direct attitude can shift the tempo of an attack, something Villa occasionally lack on the right side. The Brazilian’s ability to play across the frontline will offer Unai Emery different options, and his age suggests growth rather than a fixed potential.

However, the Premier League demands strong choices under pressure, and Alysson still shows uneven judgment in tight areas. He may require patience, careful minutes, and a clear development plan. Even so, the long-term return looks worth the early adjustment phase.

Villa should take the chance. The club need another wide threat with room to improve, and Alysson provides that possibility with a profile that can mature well under Emery’s guidance.
