Reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes suggest that Chelsea are preparing a staggering €150m offer for Morgan Rogers. The Aston Villa attacking midfielder is a key target. This development follows earlier rumours that the Blues have a serious interest in the 23-year-old England international.
Chelsea bosses are reportedly making Rogers a top priority. They think a bid this big might force Villa to sell. Financial pressure from Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) still hangs over Villa Park. This leaves the club’s leadership in a tough spot.
Villa recently handed Rogers a long-term contract until 2031 to keep rivals away. Even so, the finances remain tricky. The Fichajes report claims that Chelsea’s huge offer could wipe out Villa’s money worries in one go.
Rogers has been on fire under Unai Emery. He has already racked up seven goals and five assists this season (as of January 3, 2026). That kind of form has made him one of the Premier League’s most wanted players.
So, Chelsea’s scouts look ready to smash transfer records. They want the English midfielder’s energy at Stamford Bridge. Aston Villa now face a real fight to keep their best player.

A €150m price tag for Morgan Rogers sounds crazy. However, that’s just the market for young English talent right now. Few players have Rogers’ mix of power, skill, and versatility. He charges forward with a scary pace.
The 23-year-old can link up play in a way that most midfielders simply can’t. If Chelsea actually put this money on the table, it would be a world-record fee for an English player. That kind of cash would end any PSR worries for Aston Villa. It would let them spend big across the whole squad.
However, selling Rogers is a massive gamble on the pitch. He is the heart of Unai Emery’s attack. Losing him could ruin their chances of making the Champions League. That tournament brings in its own massive pile of cash. Plus, selling a star to a direct rival like Chelsea looks bad. It tells everyone the club aren’t that ambitious.
Hence, Villa should keep him. They should only sell if they are backed into a corner financially. Money can buy new players, but you can’t just go out and buy the chemistry and drive that Rogers brings.
Unai Emery is onto something special here. Rogers is the main man in that plan. Villa have to stand their ground. Keeping him keeps them competitive, and for the fans at Villa Park, that’s what actually matters.
