Aston Villa reported a £17m post-tax profit for 2024-25 and record revenues of £378.1m, and the club said in a statement that it had made significant progress towards sustainability.

The profit follows combined losses of more than £200m over the previous two years. It was achieved through the sales of the women’s team and The Warehouse to parent company V Sports, operated by co-owners Nassef Sawiris, Wes Edens and Michael Angelakis, to ensure compliance with Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

Full accounts are yet to be filed at Companies House. Income jumped chiefly due to a Champions League run to the quarter-finals that delivered £72m in prize money. Commercial revenue rose to £70m, up 69 per cent, and sponsorship increased 31 per cent to £28.6m after new deals with Adidas and Betano.

The figures were also helped by higher ticket prices, with supporters paying up to £96 for home Champions League matches. A push to improve hospitality underpinned nearly £70m of capital investment. Projects included new retail stores at Villa Park and the Bullring, the 3,500-capacity Warehouse, and Bodymoor Heath upgrades including a rehabilitation centre and a permanent women’s base.

Work has begun on redeveloping the North Stand, which will take capacity beyond 50,000 in time for the 2028 European Championships. Despite the revenue surge, Villa would have been at serious risk of a PSR breach without those sales, which are excluded from UEFA calculations.

Staying within UEFA financial fair play remains the club’s biggest challenge, after a £9.5m fine last summer and a settlement that further limits future losses. Another issue is the imminent loss of Betano as front-of-shirt sponsor due to Premier League rules from next season. Villa missed out on this season’s Champions League, but sit fourth as they chase a return next term.
