Aston Villa defender Mayling signs new deal | OneFootball

Aston Villa defender Sarah Mayling has signed a new contract with the club.

The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

It has been reported that Mayling has extended her deal at Villa Park until summer 2027.

After spending her youth in the Aston Villa academy system, Mayling started out on her senior career with the club back in 2014. She represented The Villans for three years in the old FAWSL2 before crossing the Second City to join neighbours Birmingham City in 2017. The defender got more than 50 top tier appearances under her belt in her time with the Blues before returning to Aston Villa in 2021 for a second spell.

Since returning to Aston Villa, Mayling has cemented her place in the team. She has made 75 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for the club over four years in which she has scored two goals. The player has helped Aston Villa to record two finishes in the top half of the Barclays Women’s Super League table.

Mayling is an important player for Aston Villa and the club have therefore moved quickly to secure her services for the next two years. The defender will be aiming to further integrate herself into new head coach Natalia Arroyo’s style of play.
