Aston Villa have been fined £570,000 by the Premier League for 10 late kick-off breaches last season. The club admitted responsibility for delays to either half on 10 occasions during the 2026-27 campaign.
The league said in a statement that kick-off and restart rules uphold professional standards and keep broadcasts to time.
The first breach came in August during a 1-0 defeat at Brentford, drawing a £5,000 fine. Sanctions increased with each infringement.
After the February 1-1 home draw with Leeds, Villa were fined £100,000 when both halves started late, the second almost two minutes beyond schedule.
The final incident occurred in March’s 4-1 home loss to Chelsea, when the second-half restart was delayed. That breach carried a £130,000 penalty plus a further £20,000 for the aggravating nature of repeat offending, taking that case to £150,000.
Eight of the 10 violations saw restarts fall between 90 seconds and two minutes later than scheduled. In a sanction agreement, the club accepted and apologised for all breaches and pledged to improve compliance.
