Aston Villa have no plans to screen Europa League final at Villa Park

Aston Villa will not open Villa Park to screen next Wednesday’s Europa League final for supporters not travelling to Türkiye, despite appeals. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club has no plans to stage a beam-back for the Freiburg match in Istanbul. It is only the second European final in the club’s history.

The decision is linked to North Stand redevelopment, with the stand closed for the whole of next season as capacity is lifted beyond 50,000. Work is due to start immediately after this Friday’s final home Premier League game against Liverpool.

The club decided against opening the stadium due to construction deadlines, and it is understood that position will not change, despite appeals from fans including former Villa striker Stan Collymore.

Frustration has grown after tickets for an official screening at the newly opened Sports Illustrated Warehouse next to Villa Park went on sale earlier than first announced, leaving many to miss out.

Supporters aiming to travel to Istanbul have also criticised a policy that gave members the same priority as season ticket holders during the sales window.

Villa have an allocation of 10,798 at the Tupras Stadyumu, which is expected to hold around 37,000 on the night.
