Aston Villa will not open Villa Park for a screening of next Wednesday's Europa League final against Freiburg in Istanbul, maintaining their stance despite supporter appeals.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the decision is linked to the North Stand redevelopment, with work due to start immediately after Friday's final home Premier League match against Liverpool and the stand closed throughout next season. The match is among the biggest in the club's history, with Villa reaching a European final for only the second time.

Construction deadlines prompted the call, and the position is understood not to be changing despite pleas from fans, including former Villa striker Stan Collymore.

Frustration has been heightened after tickets for an official screening at the recently opened Sports Illustrated Warehouse next to Villa Park went on sale earlier than billed, leaving many supporters empty handed.

Those hoping to travel to Istanbul in Türkiye have also criticised a sales policy that gave members the same priority as season ticket holders during the window.

Villa have an allocation of 10,798 at the Tupras Stadyumu, which is expected to hold around 37,000 supporters on the night.
