Aston Villa have become the latest club to show an interest in signing RC Strasbourg Alsace captain Habib Diarra (21), according to a report from Mohamed Toubache-Ter.

As reported by L’Équipe last month, Strasbourg are, unlike last summer, not opposed to losing their captain this summer. There will be a financial obligation to sell some high-value assets and so RCSA will not stand in his way in the event of an acceptable offer.

Diarra’s contract with Strasbourg runs until 2028 and so he will not come cheap, especially given that the suitors for the Senegal midfielder are multiplying. L’Équipe have previously reported interest from Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion, whilst Stade Rennais, a long-term admirer, have also retain their interest, as per Toubache-Ter.

Aston Villa are now also in the race to sign Diarra, with the Birmingham-based club launching a “huge offensive” to get a deal done for the highly-rated Strasbourg midfielder.
