Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Feyenoord forward Zepiqueno Redmond.

The 18-year-old made his Feyenoord debut this season and has attracted interest from clubs in England and Italy heading into the summer transfer window. Redmond’s contract with the Dutch side expires next month and he is available on a free transfer.

Villa have now made their move, with negotiations opened over a potential deal. Unai Emery is targeting the Netherlands youth international as his first summer signing, with The Villans keen to bring in at least one forward.

Villa sold Jhon Duran to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in January, while it is unclear whether Marcus Rashford’s loan from Manchester United will be made permanent.

Ollie Watkins’ future is also uncertain after becoming unsettled with a rotational role over the second half of the campaign. Arsenal saw a bid turned down for Watkins in the January transfer window.

Though regarded as one for the future, Redmond is on Villa’s wish list. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Unai Emery’s side are leading the chase for the Dutchman. Redmond, who can operate across the frontline, has scored twice in nine senior appearances for Feyenoord in 2024/25. The teenager netted both goals in a 2-1 win over MVV Maastricht in the KNVB Cup in December before starting against AC Milan in the Champions League knockout phase play-off.
