Aston Villa Not Expected To Have Issue On Personal Terms For Star As Talks Continue | OneFootball

Aston Villa do not consider agreeing personal terms with Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez to be an issue as they push to agree a deal for him.

Club Brugge originally brought the defender into their academy in 2022, before gradually ushering him into the first team from the following season.

The Ecuador international has since become a mainstay in their defensive ranks, further underlining his importance last season by clocking up 3,809 minutes across 46 appearances.

Ordonez’s display in defence subsequently drew admiring glances from Premier League giants Liverpool and Newcastle United last year.

A Premier League move could now materialise this summer, with Aston Villa emerging as a potential route to England for the centre-back.

The Midlands outfit have already made contact with Club Brugge as they sound out the parameters of a potential deal for the defender.

The Belgian giants are understood to be holding out for around £30m, while Aston Villa are not currently prepared to stretch to that figure, leaving the talks ongoing.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, agreeing personal terms with Ordonez is not deemed as a issue by Villa as they continue their negotiations with Club Brugge.

The Ecuador international has yet to feature for Blauw-Zwart this season as he is recovering from a metatarsal fracture and it has been understood that he is expected to make his return to the pitch in the middle of September.

That would leave Aston Villa needing to be even more thorough in their medical checks and they may require more time, making it ill advised to leave the deal until the end of the window.,

Ordonez has experience of featuring in the Champions League and he played against the Midlands outfit during the 2024/25 season where Unai Emery managed to take a good look at the young defender.

Emery’s side are scouring the market for a solution at the back after cashing in on Ezri Konsa to Arsenal, leaving a sizeable void to fill at Villa Park.

The need has already been underlined by the Villans suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Brighton in their opening league fixture.
