Aston Villa are not in talks with Juventus for Canada star Jonathan David, despite suggestions the UEFA Super Cup runners-up are keen on the striker.

Unai Emery is keen on adding a quality forward to the side after winning the Europa League last season.

The Villa Park club have an ageing forward line, as Ollie Watkins will be 31 by the end of the year and Tammy Abraham is going to be 29 in a month.

Watkins has been linked with a potential move away from Villa Park this summer, though he looks set to stay put, with Fenerbache finding him too expensive.

Teenage hitman Brian Madjo is rated very highly at Aston Villa and he will learn the ropes of playing up front under experienced strikers.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has been a top target for Emery for a while; they wanted him last summer, but he ended up at Bayern Munich on loan.

The German side decided that they do not want to sign him permanently and he is back at Stamford Bridge this summer, but could be moved on for the right price.

The Villa Park outfit have been in ‘constant contact’ with the London giants, but they have also been widely linked with Juventus striker David.

However, according to Italian journalist Orazio Accomando, the Villans are not in talks with the Old Lady for the Canadian frontman.

It has been suggested that Emery’s side are currently fully focused on Chelsea’s Jackson, who is the preferred option for the Villa manager.

David, who joined the Turin giants on a free transfer last summer, has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this summer.

The Canada forward was exceptional during his Lille stint, where he contributed to 140 goals directly in only 232 games.

However, his first season in Italy with the Old Lady has been underwhelming, as he ended up scoring only eight goals in 46 games across all competitions.

Whether Aston Villa will make a move for David in the coming days or weeks, in case they fail to convince Chelsea to sell Jackson, remains to be seen.
