Aston Villa did not have the best of nights in Paris in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain, falling to a 3-1 defeat. Unai Emery's side now face a monumental task if they are to overturn the result in their favor. They’ll be counting on their strong home form for inspiration in the second leg on Tuesday.
At home, Villa has been unbeaten since the end of October in all competitions. Before the loss to PSG, they were on a seven-game winning run as well. Emery will know his team is capable of delivering what’s needed. They also claimed a 3-0 away win over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend. If they can replicate that exact scoreline on Tuesday, it would be more than enough to secure a place in the semi-finals.
The undisputed number one choice. He kept a clean sheet against Southampton and will be hopeful of repeating that on Tuesday.
Cash was taken off at half-time in the first leg, after which Villa struggled defensively. He is expected to start at home.
A regular in the team, Konsa is expected to start once again. His composure and experience will be crucial for the Villans.
The Spaniard has built a solid understanding with his center-back partner. His aerial dominance will be key to keeping PSG at bay. Torres should be fresh after being unused against Southampton.
Another player who was not involved from the bench over the weekend. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively down the left will be important.
Kamara's skill in breaking up play and launching counter-attacks will be vital in stopping PSG and mounting a comeback from the 3-1 deficit.
A consistent presence in midfield, Tielemans impressed in the 3-0 win over Southampton. His pinpoint passing from deep will be key as Villa pushes for goals.
Rogers scored Villa’s only goal in Paris and will be expected to make an impact once again. He has been one of the standout U23 players in this season’s Champions League.
The Scot came off the bench to score against Southampton. He’ll be hoping to make an early impact this time, starting from the off.
The England international didn’t have the desired impact in the first leg, but his potential to trouble defenses can’t be underestimated. He should start again, this time operating from the wing.
Watkins came off the bench to score against Southampton. Although he didn’t start the first leg, he is expected to lead the line on Tuesday.
