Aston Villa is enjoying one of the team's best moments in recent history. This weekend, the Villans defeated Manchester United to achieve their most successful winning streak in over 100 years.
With a stellar performance by Morgan Rogers, who scored both of his side's goals, Villa edged out the Red Devils to make it ten consecutive victories across the Premier League and the Europa League.
This streak, which began on November 6, saw the team thrash Bournemouth and secure a significant 2-1 victory over the Premier League leaders, Arsenal. Villa's imrpessive attack has been their main weapon, with the team scoring 24 goals during this period.
This is now the second-best winning streak in Aston Villa's entire history – and the longest dates back to 1914.
That year, Villa set a record of 11 consecutive wins, and interestingly, Manchester United was also part of that moment.
Aston Villa had ten straight wins when they traveled to Manchester. The Villans extended their streak with a 6-0 thrashing, including a hat-trick by striker Joe Bache, who earned seven England caps during his career.
Shortly thereafter, one of the great events in history began. The year 1914 marked the start of World War I, triggered by the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in the streets of Sarajevo, Serbia.
Villa finished the 1913/14 First Division season in second place and has since won the top flight league only once, in 1980/81.
Currently third in the 2025/26 Premier League, just two points behind leaders Arsenal, the team managed by Unai Emery can dream of greater achievements once again.
