Aston Villa are taking their bid to register £10m striker Brian Madjo to the court of arbitration for sport, CAS.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club have appealed Fifa’s ruling that he cannot be registered before his 18th birthday in January next year, with a hearing scheduled for the first of July in Switzerland.

The teenager joined from Metz six months ago and has been left in limbo since Fifa refused his registration because he was moving from an overseas club.

Fifa’s regulations on international transfers mean he is ineligible to play until he turns 18, and Villa’s attempt to register him was dismissed despite him being born in England.

Madjo grew up in Luxembourg and has been capped by them at international level, while also representing England at youth level. He has trained with Villa’s first team since arriving at Bodymoor Heath, but as things stand he cannot feature in matches until midway through next season.
