Aston Villa takes the lead in race for Real Madrid player
The battle is heating up in England for Gonzalo García, the young Real Madrid forward. Several clubs are monitoring his situation, but Aston Villa has now emerged as the frontrunner to sign him in the January transfer window.
García made a name for himself this summer with a standout performance at the Club World Cup, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. However, he has struggled to secure a spot in Madrid’s squad. So far, he’s made just 7 La Liga appearances, only one as a starter, and has yet to contribute offensively.
This situation has prompted several English clubs to make their move. Brighton, Wolverhampton, Leeds, and Aston Villa have all shown interest. Brighton has reportedly even opened talks with Real Madrid. But according to Football Insider, Aston Villa is now leading the chase, and the club is not ruling out a permanent transfer rather than just a loan. García is still under contract with Real Madrid until 2030.
