Aston Villa to assess duo after injuries overshadow Pathum United win | OneFootball

Aston Villa will assess Alejandro Garnacho and John McGinn after both were injured in Tuesday’s pre-season win over Pathum United in Bangkok.

Garnacho went off before the interval after taking a stray elbow to the face. McGinn departed in the second half with an apparent issue to his left knee.

The captain walked off following treatment and looked set to return, but Unai Emery kept him off for the remainder of the match.

Villa led through first-half goals from Emi Buendia and Victor Lindelof, before Boubacar Kamara came on and scored their third a minute later. It was his first appearance since a serious knee injury in January’s FA Cup win at Tottenham. Leon James netted a late consolation for the hosts.

“It feels good to be back. I have been waiting for this moment,” said Kamara. He added, “I worked hard during my rehab to come back stronger, so I am happy to be here today.” He spoke to VillaTV.

Villa face Bayern Munich on Friday, the final match of their Far East tour.
