Aston Villa are weighing up a potential move for Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey as they review their attacking options, with the 24-year-old's late Tyne-Wear derby winner capping a standout debut Premier League campaign.

Former Villa scout Mick Brown said: "Aston Villa are looking to sign a new striker in the summer," he told Football Insider.

Brobbey has become a key figure under Régis Le Bris, with six goals and one assist in 24 Premier League appearances. Interest is understood to be building from clubs in England and across Europe.

Unai Emery is exploring ways to bolster his forward line. While Ollie Watkins remains a key option and Tammy Abraham arrived in the winter window to add competition, Villa continue to examine further reinforcements.

"He looks a handful to play against. He’s strong, will back into defenders, battle them, fight them, run in behind, and he’ll score goals as well."
