Sunderland resume their Premier League campaign at Villa Park on Sunday, with both sides weighing significant selection calls. Unai Emery’s team sit fourth and sealed a Europa League semi-final spot this week.
According to Sunderland Echo, Emiliano Martinez is available after a minor injury. He missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, then returned for Thursday’s Europa League second-leg win over Bologna.
For Sunderland, Dan Ballard has trained fully this week after two games out with a hamstring issue. He will not be rushed, so is likely to be named among the substitutes.
Winger Nilson Angulo is out for Sunday. He is making good progress and could feature against Nottingham Forest next weekend, though a return at Wolves is probably more realistic.
Tyrone Mings is available, having rejoined the squad on Thursday following a minor injury.
