Aston Villa are “very close” to signing Sevilla defender Loic Bade in the January transfer window, according to Tom Collomosse.
Villa have confirmed today that defender Diego Carlos has joined Turkish club Fenerbahce for an undisclosed fee. His departure means there is space for new additions, and Villa are looking to bring Bade to bolster the defence.
The Villans have been very busy in the January window, and they have completed two signings already.
Dutch attacker Donyell Malen joined this month from Borussia Dortmund, and young right-back Andres Garcia joined from Levante.
Unai Emery now wants to sign a new centre-back, and Villa have earmarked the 24-year-old centre-back as their next signing.
Villa submitted a bid worth around €25 million, which included €4m in bonuses. Sevilla have been holding out a fee of €30m for the former Stade Rennais defender, and it appears that the two clubs must have made progress in reaching a positive conclusion.
Now Collomosse has claimed on X that a deal to sign Bade is very close. The Daily Mail journalist wrote: “Aston Villa and Sevilla very close on agreeing a deal for Bade – only final details to be sorted. Then a matter of agreeing terms with the player.”
Bade initially joined Sevilla on loan and later the move was made permanent. He has made over 75 appearances for the La Liga club. While Collomosse hasn’t disclosed the details of the deal, it appears that and Villa are willing to pay a handsome fee to bring him to Villa Park.
If the deal goes through, Bade will become the third signing for Villa in the January transfer window. Villa are eighth in the Premier League table, and Emery is eyeing a top-four finish this season.
