The Rossoblu, playing in Europe’s elite club competition for the first time in over 60 years, had already travelled to the UK earlier this month, losing 2-0 at Anfield against Premier League giants Liverpool. On Tuesday, October 22, they’ll meet Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Villa Park, with kick-off at 21:00 CET (19:00 GMT).

How to buy Aston Villa vs Bologna tickets

Bologna fans will have around 2,400 tickets available in the away end. At the beginning of October, approximately 3,000 supporters from the capital of Emilia Romagna flew to Liverpool, selling out the away end in a matter of hours.

With even fewer entrances available in Birmingham, Corriere dello Sport reports that several Bologna fans will try to get tickets in other stadium sectors.

Excitement in town is palpable as Bologna had not played in Europe since 2000, so every Champions League game this season, whether at the Stadio Dall’Ara or away, is an unmissable event for all supporters.

Tickets are available on the Aston Villa website from £78 to £97. More can be purchased on LiveFootballTicket from £83. With this service, you get a 150% money-back guarantee on all ticket purchases. This means a full refund plus the value back to spend on another event.

What to expect from Bologna after Motta, Calafiori and Zirkzee era

Bologna drastically changed their team over the summer, starting with coach Thiago Motta. The former midfielder had led the Rossoblu to a historic 5th placement in Serie A, bringing the club back to an European competition for the first time since the Roberto Baggio era. The Italian legend played for Bologna in 1998-99, helping the Rossoblu qualify for the UEFA Cup, now the Europa League.

Italiano, an ex-Fiorentina coach, took over from Motta, but the start of the season has been unconvincing because two key players left alongside Motta. Riccardo Calafiori joined Arsenal, while Joshua Zirkzee signed for Manchester United.

Nicolò Casale and Martin Erlic were the centre-backs signed by Bologna to replace Calafiori, while Thijs Dallinga moved to the Stadio Dall’Ara from Toulouse to fill the centre-back spot. However, another striker, who joined Bologna in January 2024, has become the starting centre forward under Italiano. Argentinean talent Santiago Castro, 20, scored three goals in the opening nine games of the season, and even if he started on the bench against Liverpool, he’s currently the most dangerous attacking threat to Bologna opponents.

The Rossoblu have one point in two Champions League games and just eight in seven Serie A matches.
