Aston Villa welcome Burnley to Villa Park on Sunday, looking to secure back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time this season.
After a difficult start, Unai Emery’s side have found some form. Their recent run was capped by a 3-1 win over Fulham last weekend and a comfortable midweek European triumph.
The hosts will be confident of getting a result. Villa Park has become a fortress over the past year, with the team losing just one league game there in that time. In addition, they boast an incredible 16-match unbeaten streak against newly-promoted opposition, a record they will be determined to extend on Sunday.
Aston Villa have a major doubt over goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who is being assessed after injuring himself in the warm-up before the match against Feyenoord, with Marco Bizot in line to start. The injury list has grown with defender Tyrone Mings also ruled out with an ankle issue, joining the unavailable midfield trio of Ross Barkley, Amadou Onana, and Youri Tielemans.
On a more positive note for Unai Emery, the attack is in good health; Emiliano Buendía, who has scored in his last two games, could feature in the number 10 position, with Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and Evann Guessand also expected to start. Rogers has provided the most open-play assists (8) of any player in the Premier League during the 2025 calendar year.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Bizot; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Kamara; Guessand, Buendia, Rogers; Watkins
The Premier League fixture will be played at Villa Park on Sunday, 5 October 2025, with kick-off at 2:00 p.m. BST.
