Marco Asensio’s future at PSG looks increasingly uncertain after the club sent him on loan to Aston Villa during the winter transfer window. While he enjoyed a productive spell in the Premier League, Aston Villa chose not to make the move permanent — at least for now.
The 29-year-old Spain international recorded eight goals and one assist in 21 appearances for the English side. He remains under contract with PSG through June 2026.
Earlier this month, L’Équipe reported that the former Real Madrid player often showcased his technical quality during his time in Birmingham.
The outlet also noted that Unai Emery is keen to keep him on loan. Fenerbahçe has emerged as another potential option, but no financial agreement has been reached, and Asensio is reportedly reluctant to accept a significant pay cut.

CaughtOffside reported Sunday that Aston Villa are close to finalizing the permanent signing of Asensio from PSG, with the Premier League side preparing an offer that could reach €15 million.
Emery has been a strong advocate for a permanent return, viewing the Spaniard as a player who can add creativity, experience, and quality to Aston Villa’s attack.
That push has been made possible by Jacob Ramsey’s £40 million transfer to Newcastle United, which opened up both squad space and funds. The sale effectively cleared the way for Aston Villa to move decisively for Asensio.
