Aston Villa head to Brighton in the Premier League this evening with Champions League qualification in their sights.
Just five points separate the teams from fourth to 10th in the Premier League, with Brighton and Villa sandwiched in the chasing pack. A win for Unai Emery’s side tonight will take them above the Seagulls in the table.
Villa are aiming for a sixth straight win in all competitions. Their recent form has seen The Villans progress to the Champions League quarter-finals and into the last four of the FA Cup. Crystal Palace await in the latter fixture later this month.
Brighton missed out on a place in the semi-finals after losing on penalties to Nottingham Forest. Full focus for the Seagulls is now on securing a place in Europe for next season.
Unai Emery has a near full-strength squad to choose from this evening. Ross Barkley is the only confirmed absentee for the visitors as the midfielder continues his recovery from a calf complaint.
Ollie Watkins should return to the starting side after beginning the FA Cup win at Preston from the bench. Marcus Rashford, who scored twice at Deepdale, could move back to a wide role.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; Rogers, Asensio, Rashford; Watkins.
Brighton host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday 2nd April 2025. Kick-off is 19:45 BST.
The fixture has not been selected for live television coverage in the UK.
