According to The Athletic, Aston Villa will be without Boubacar Kamara (24) for the rest of the season after a scan revealed that the defensive midfielder suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear during the 2-1 loss to Manchester United.
Kamara will have to undergo surgery and it is expected that it will be a long recovery process before the French international will be able to return to Villa. This injury will also likely rule the midfielder out of contention for the France squad for the upcoming summer Euros.
The loss of Kamara increases the pressure on a squad that was already in the midst of an acute injury crisis, with the defensive midfielder becoming the third Villa player in recent months to suffer from an ACL tear; as both Tyrone Mings (30) and Emi Buendía (27) have recently sustained the same injury.
The defensive midfielder had become a key part of a squad that hoped over the weekend to consolidate their ambitions to finish in the Champions League places, and his loss will be felt keenly in the coming months.
