Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara (24) has undergone an operation on his ACL injury in Lyon, according to a report from the AFP.
The former Olympique de Marseille midfielder suffered the injury during Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on 11th February. The gravity of the injury was quickly ascertained, with manager Unai Emery confirming that Kamara would be out until the end of the season. The Frenchman, who has five caps for Les Bleus, will also miss the upcoming European Championships in Germany.
It comes as a big disappointment to Kamara, who in an interview with L’Équipe earlier this season stated that making Didier Deschamps squad for the upcoming EUROS was one of his major objectives for the season.
Emery has hypothesised that Kamara could make his return in September or October. The Frenchman’s recovery has now begun. According to the AFP, Kamara underwent the surgery in Lyon on Friday.
