Foot Mercato journalist Sébastien Denis is reporting that Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson (28) is set to join OGC Nice on a season-long loan. Nice-Matin affirm that there will be an option to buy included in the deal.
Injuries have hampered Sanson’s chances of imposing himself at Villa Park since his arrival from Olympique de Marseille. The French midfielder began to return to form during a loan spell at Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace in the second half of last season. Les Alsaciens, now owned by BlueCo, were interested in bringing Sanson back to the club. Lille OSC were also interested in the Frenchman.
However, Denis now reports that Sanson is set to join Nice in the coming hours. He will reportedly join Les Aiglons on a season-long loan deal that will include an option to make the move permanent. The Aston Villa midfielder will become Nice’s first signing of the transfer window. The Riviera club are the only side in Ligue 1 to have not yet dipped into the transfer market.
