Atalanta have set their sights on Manuel Lazzari as they look to sign a new right wing back.
The 28-year-old Italian defender had a difficult start to the season under new Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri, struggling to adapt from being a wing back in a back five to a full back in a four-man defence. After a few months, things finally started to click for Lazzari, whose strong work earnt him an Azzurri call-up.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Atalanta are one of the clubs most interested in signing Lazzari this summer. This is nothing new, as la Dea were keen to pick up the former SPAL man back in January, but nothing concrete has taken place yet.
Contracted to Lazio until 2024, it’s hard to see the Roman club being open to a sale this summer as the 28-year-old is now a core part of Sarri’s squad in the Italian capital.
Lazzari made 39 appearances across all competitions this season for Lazio, for a total of 2121 minutes. In that time, he scored three goals and provided three assists.
